SEVEN FIELDS, PA -- It was Saturday evening and I was visiting with my sister in Mars. She and her husband and their three kids were going to the new Dairy Queen that opened on Route 228. Call me crazy but dinner with three kids under 7 sounded like fun. So we piled into the mini van and drove a very short distance to the Dairy Queen Grill and Chill. A parking spot right out front made us optimistic that we could get in get a seat get our burgers and desserts and get out, but once we opened the door we knew that would not be the case. Customers were lined up to the door to get in and get a seat. Never having had a burger at Dairy Queen, we were willing to wait and wait and wait. But after a while even the die hard fans had to give in.We went to the drive through and ordered a ton of food and ice cream and went home. The food was pretty good. Dairy Queen burgers rate high with this wpxi.com critic on the fast food meter. They were juicy and hot. The kids had chicken and shrimp, fried of course, and all seemed to enjoy their meals. At the end of the meal, the shakes, and blizzards, and a dilly bar were a little bit melted but still lived up to the Dairy Queen standard. The atmosphere was crazy on a Saturday night. I give the food 4 out of dots considering how overworked and stressed the staff must have been, and the desserts 5 dots, of course.
